Race Pipe Slip-On
The XD Race Pipe slip-on (part number 833-3450, MSRP $299) is now available for
the Honda TRX450R. The 4" race muffler features an external disc design, improving
exhaust flow and increasing peak horsepower. The new pipe offers riders the advantage

AMA Flat Track Update
Once again, the season got off to a roaring start at Daytona with Jacob E. Johnson
grabbing the top overall spot in the points standings. The 20-year-old had a great
weekend with the fastest qualifying heat, the fastest heat and the lead 20 of the
25 laps of the national.
SuperTrapp sponsored riders had a very impressive opening to the season as well,
grabbing five of the top ten spots and proving once again that SuperTrapp really
is a racer's best friend. This impressive effort was led by Ken Coolbeth in fifth,
followed by John Raun Wood, Joe Kopp, Johnny Murphree and Shaun Russell in sixth,
seventh, eighth and tenth respectively.
Luckily for dirt track fans, the lull in the schedule following Daytona has finally
come to an end. The action picked up again May 21 at Route 66 Raceway in Joilet,
Ill. And remember, if you miss any of the great flat track action this season,
you can always count on the The Pipeline to keep you up to date.
Profile:
SuperTrapp Race Team
The 2005 racing season marks Mike Hacker's fourth consecutive year with the SuperTrapp
race team. Unfortunately for Mike and race fans alike, he injured his shoulder
in the season's first race at Daytona, forcing him to undergo surgery on April
29 and suspend his season until June.
Replacing Mike during this time will be Shawn Baer. Shawn achieved a tenth place
finish in last season's 883 HDSP series. He will continue to work with SuperTrapp's
team tuner, Carl Patrick, who will prepare bikes for Shawn. The new rider made
his debut at Joilet, May 21, 2005.
Shawn, 19, realizes that this is a big opportunity at this stage in his career.
He said, "This opportunity is not one that every up-and-coming racer gets in their
career. I'm very happy, proud and extremely excited to be part of a team like this."
Mike is confident that Shawn can help the team meet expectations this season. He
said, "We chose Shawn because he is a sportsman and a highly competitive rider." Mike
also said that he would take an active role in helping Shawn prepare for the upcoming
races.

Werner's Words
Bill Werner is the most successful tuner in AMA Grand National history with
13 championships to his credit. He spent 38 years as a racing mechanic for Harley-Davidson,
always striving to squeeze every last bit of power from the Harley engine. He's
been using SuperTrapp mufflers since the 70s when he discovered the tuneble technology
allowed him to meet sound requirements and still gain power.
After his retirement in 2004, Bill agreed to lend his expertise to SuperTrapp to
help develop race and street systems with ultimate power and performance. He's
also agreed to share some stories and words of wisdom with you, the readers of
Pipeline.
The world of oval track racing is a game of finite adjustments. Basically, you
are just going around in a circle and to do that significantly better than someone
else, you need an edge. The edge that SuperTrapp offers is the main reason that
it is the preferred exhaust for oval track racing.
Keeping Track
One of the secrets to going fast on the racetrack is to get your bike to fit a
specific track. And to be even more specific, one of the most challenging types
of track is a paper-clip-shaped track. This calls for the bike to slow down in
the corners and accelerate on the straight-aways. Because of this, you need a much
wider range of power. The adaptability of a SuperTrapp allows you to widen the
power band, whereas using a fixed exhaust means that you are stuck with a single
power band. Keep this in mind whether you are riding on the track or the highway.
Who Needs a Weatherman?
Regardless of the track, weather conditions play a key role in how you will choose
to tune your exhaust. A slippery riding surface calls for less power; something
SuperTrapp's tuneable system allows you to control. Removing discs decreases mid-
range power to gain more control of the bike while adding discs provides more mid-range
power. This gives you an edge, come rain or shine.
Beyond the Track
The SuperTrapp edge on the racetrack carries over to recreational motorcyclists
as well. SuperTrapp was the pioneer of tuneable disc technology, and just because
racers see the most obvious benefits, it doesn't mean that all riders can't take
advantage of it in everyday riding situations.
Bill Werner will offer words of wisdom in each issue of The Pipeline. Check
back next issue when Bill describes how a real world experience led to the development
of a new product.

This month's testimonial
This month's testimonial comes from Tom Todd, proud owner of an American Iron cover
bike.
I've had a business for about 15 years, and I started using SuperTrapp about
two years before that. There are two main reasons I went to SuperTrapp. First,
they fit correctly and second, they make good power. As far as I'm concerned, they
make more horsepower than any 2:1 exhaust system out there. The SuperTrapp 2:1
will gain you 15 percent and I've proven that on a dyno.
With the "American Iron" cover bike, I wanted a nice tight package that performed
well. The SuperTrapp doesn't stick out. Everything flows together and it fits the
way it was supposed to fit. At my shop I try to deliver the looks of a custom bike
without the outrageous cost, and SuperTrapp fits this mold. The exhausts aren't
overpriced, and you really get what you pay for with them.
