Welcome
to the Pipeline, a quarterly newsletter from SuperTrapp.
True to its name, Pipeline is your source for SuperTrapp product information, racing
updates and results, racer profiles, fellow riders' testimonials and tips. In addition,
we're excited to have retired Harley-Davidson racing mechanic Bill Werner and his 38
years of experience as the most successful tuner in AMA Grand National History, as a
regular columnist. We know you'll enjoy reading Bill's "behind-the-scenes" takes on racing
as much as we have.
Bottom line? We want you to feel like Pipeline is time well spent. We appreciate the
time and hope you enjoy the latest read.

At
the Race Track
We have several exciting racing news items to share with you this month. First,
we would like to welcome back Mike Hacker to the SuperTrapp racing team for
a fifth consecutive year. Mike suffered through an injury-plagued 2005 season,
but like his many fans, we are excited to see him back at full strength in
2006.
Also joining the SuperTrapp flat track team this season will be the legendary Jay
Springsteen. Jay will represent SuperTrapp at selected races this upcoming season.
If you are unfamiliar with Jay’s past accomplishments, you can read more about
him in the Profile section of this issue.
For fans of ATV racing, SuperTrapp will be a more significant force than ever before.
SuperTrapp will be partnering with engine building legend Tom Carlson and his TC
Racing team to compete in this year’s ATVA Grand National Moto-Cross Championship.
In 2006, SuperTrapp will also continue its partnerships across the pond and on
the frozen pond with Ton Pels of Zodiac Racing and with Anthony Barlow and his
Xtreme International Ice Racing series.
Pels, also known as the Godfather, has more than 35 years of drag racing experience,
which includes three European championships. Pels’ Zodiac team competes in FIM
European Championships and ADBA World Championship Drag Racing Series. For more
information on Pels and his team, please visit his Web
site.
If you are a regular Pipeline reader, you may remember our first issue profile
of Barlow and his ice racing exploits. For more information on the XIIR and the
2006 racing schedule, visit the series Web
site.
Racer
Profile: Jay Springsteen
Jay Springsteen is one of the most successful flat track racers in the history
of the sport. He racked up three AMA Grand National Championships and 43 National
Championship flat track wins during his illustrious 28-year career as a full-time
flat track racer.
Springsteen dominated the sport immediately upon his arrival as an 18-year old
rookie in 1975. He took home Rookie of the Year honors that first season and never
looked back. He would win the next three Grand National Championships in 1976,
1977 and 1978 and would finish a close second in 1982. Springsteen accomplished
this early success with his tuner and fellow SuperTrapp supporter Bill Werner.
Springsteen continued to dominate the sport by finishing in the top 10 every year
from 1995 through his final season in 2003. That brought his career record to an
amazing 23 year-end top 10 finishes.
Springsteen was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2003, but by no stretch
of the imagination did that mean
“Springer” was finished racing. In fact, last season he scored 4 top 10 finishes
out of only five races including a third place finish at Syracuse.

Werner's Words
Bill Werner is the most successful tuner in AMA Grand National history with
13 championships to his credit. He spent 38 years as a racing mechanic for Harley-Davidson,
always striving to squeeze every last bit of power from the Harley engine. He's
been using SuperTrapp mufflers since the 70s when he discovered the tuneable technology
allowed him to meet sound requirements and still gain power.
After his retirement in 2004, Bill agreed to lend his expertise to SuperTrapp to
help develop race and street systems with ultimate power and performance. He's
also agreed to share some stories and words of wisdom with you, the readers of
Pipeline.
2006: A Time for Change
2006 will be a very exciting year for flat track racing. This upcoming season will
see the Grand National Championship split into two separate series where races
on 750cc bikes will be counted separately from races on 450cc bikes. This could
result in two separate champions, or one rider could win both series.
Here’s my prediction for the 2006 season: there will be two separate champions.
In the 450cc series, you will start to see some fresh faces near the top of the
standings. The younger riders learn on these smaller bikes and in most cases they
have more seat time on these particular bikes than veteran riders.
There are many riders that fare well on both types of bikes. SuperTrapp’s Mike
Hacker has done well on both types of bikes in the past, but I would expect him
to be slightly more dominant in the 750cc series in 2006.
Besides the fact that 2006 will be an interesting year for the riders, manufacturers
will also have a reason to be excited by this new format. By separating the 450cc
class, manufacturers of these bikes will now have the opportunity to vie for a
championship without having to compete directly against Harley-Davidson. This will
not only mean these manufacturers will put more resources into racing, but aftermarket
manufacturers like SuperTrapp will begin to produce more products for the 450cc
bikes.
2006 should be an exciting season for racers, fans and manufacturers. Be sure
to check out the Pipeline in 2006 where Bill Werner will be back to take you behind
the scenes of both flat track racing series.

This month's testimonial
This month, our testimonial comes from Mert Lawwill, whose racing career spanned
19 years and included 17 National championship wins:
I choose SuperTrapp exhausts because they give you the complete package. The
tuneability of the diffuser discs is something I have used throughout my career,
the stainless steel always looks great and they have always been a great company
to work with.
As always, feel free to send us your SuperTrapp testimonials and keep an eye out
