Shhhhhhhhh. SuperTrapp Introduces "Silent"
Series Officials have spoken up in regards to riders
quieting down. SuperTrapp is pleased to introduce the first
models in a long line of "silent" systems. We all know that
noise is one of the biggest issues facing our industry today.
Regardless of how anyone personally feels about noise and
volume, the simple fact is that we are going to have to quiet
down or suffer the consequences. SuperTrapp Industries has
always been an advocate of quiet performance exhaust systems
and responsible riding habits. Using that volume control in
your right hand can help a lot, but these new exhausts will
also let you return a bike to near stock sound levels without
returning to stock performance. The first new 2:1 systems are
for the Softail models, '91-'07 and wide tire customs. They
are available in both a Megaphone and straight body design to
offer two different, but popular styles. It's time to quiet
down and SuperTrapp has stepped up again at the forefront of
the industry to help make this possible for all riders to
achieve.

| In Werner's Words
The AMA Sound Requirement for the 2007 Amateur Race
Season - An Interview with Bill Werner
Q. For the
2007 Amateur race season, the AMA has implemented a rule the
requires all racers in the amateur dirt track series to comply
with a maximum sound level at technical inspection. Can you
tell us about the maximum sound level and how this test is
conducted? What are the reasons behind the limit?
A. The AMA issued the SAE J1287 stationary sound
test as a long-term commitment to racer and fan safety, as
well as improving the overall impression of the sport of
motorcycle competition, the AMA is proposing a plan to reduce
the sound levels at professional and amateur motorcycle racing
events nationwide. In this procedure, the motorcycle is
brought to a prepared test site. With the engine warm and the
transmission in neutral, engine revolutions per minute (rpm)
are brought up to the specified test speed (306,000m divided
by the stroke in millimeters) and a sound reading is taken.
The sound level is measured 20 inches from the exhaust outlet,
with the sensor held parallel to the ground and at a 45-degree
angle to the exhaust centerline.
Currently,
motorcycles in closed-course AMA- sanctioned motorcycle
competition must meet sound limits of 99 decibels (on the "A"
scale), measured at a distance of 20 inches from the
motorcycle's exhaust outlet. The proposed plan calls for
reducing the allowable standard to 98 dB(A) for 2008, 97 dB(A)
for 2009 and 96dB(A) for 2010.
Many race tracks were
built in rural areas due to excessive sound levels in order to
avoid disturbing those residing near the race track. Sound is
a huge issue. It's difficult for people, especially those who
do reside near a race track, to listen to 8 or 9 hours of loud
noise.
The AMA is trying to be proactive to lower
sound levels for all of racing because it's difficult to
discriminate which tracks are owned in a distance where the
sound levels are not a disturbance to anybody or which ones
are closer to civilization and noise levels do tend to bother
people.
It's easier to say there is a standard for
everybody and that standard is to quiet down. Even people
practicing in their own backyard need to be aware and use a
quieter exhaust system. It's just a good practice in the
industry, for the industry.
Q. How will these
limits affect competition?
A. It creates some
challenges. In the past, during the early '70's, racers
typically did not have a form of muffling noise whatsoever. I
mean, they had the vertical megaphones and straight pipes and
every year they had to try to incorporate different standards
and attempted to find ways to muffle the noise.
Now
the sound limits are being much more stringently enforced.
It's definitely the way of the future.
Q: How can
racers ensure that they will meet the sound requirement at
technical inspection?
A. Every particular
motorcycle has its own unique sound signature. That sound
signature is created from a multitude of variables. Variables
to factor in are things such as whether the engine is air
cooled or liquid cooled and whether the engine has been
designed with reducing noise in mind. Air boxes are also a
factor because certain pipes are restricted to reduce air
intake noise. The valve lash is another variable to take into
consideration. There are all kinds of variables incorporated
into each individual motorcycle that create the sound measured
by this standard.
One of the advantages of SuperTrapp
is after you buy the system; you can literally adjust the
sound levels by reducing the number of discs used with
different pipes and endcaps to adjust to the standard of the
track at that time. A system that has that type of
adjustability that you can literally adjust on site, in a
matter of moments by changing disc configurations to reduce
the sound output and meet the requirement is most
advantageous.
Q: What does the future hold for the
professional racers?
A: The rationale is either we
reduce the sound output, or the government may create a set of
standards for us that would make some tracks unusable. So, as
an industry, we need to understand the AMA is being proactive
to reduce noise levels. Racers need to be prepared to reduce
sound levels a little more each year.
Q: There is a
lot of pressure on street riders to reduce noise. Do the same
principles in racing apply to the street?
A. A lot
of motorcycle manufacturers are required to make certain sound
requirements by the government depending on what size the
corporation is and how many motorcycles they manufacture.
Typically, a lot of enthusiasts don't like the sound of their
motorcycle, so they buy aftermarket exhausts. Unfortunately,
some of the exhausts out there tend to be pretty useless noise
wise. They can create issues for all riders in general. You
just have to be careful with how you choose to modify your
motorcycle.
People like to hear their engines a little
bit more, but not so much that it disturbs everyone in their
neighborhood, so they can adjust the sound to their liking or
need. SuperTrapp allows that adjustability for the rider to
tune their motorcycle to the tone they like and adjust the
carburetion, so the enthusiast receives the tone and power of
the motorcycle most desirable to them.

| Biker Build-Off
SuperTrapp Industries (www.SuperTrapp.com) served as
the official performance exhaust sponsor to Leroy- Thompson
Choppers, Mentor, OH (www.leroythompsonchoppers.com) by
donating a customized Kerker exhaust for Scott Webster and his
crew's winning "Ethyl" of TLC's Biker Build-Off. Webster of
Leroy-Thompson Choppers vs. Dawn Norakas of Stinger Custom
Cycles out of Cedar City, UT went head to head in a biker
build-off which aired on TLC on April 5, 2007.
Each
Biker Build-Off episode pits two custom shops against each
other to showcase their skills, craftsmanship and creativity
as they build a custom bike. The show spent time filming at
each location and then it was off to the Golden Gate Bridge
where Norakas and Webster met and rode to the Easyriders Show
in Pomona, CA for the judging of their build-off bikes.
Dawn Norakas built a low-slung chopper, while Scott
Webster constructed a winning industrial-themed bike.

XIIR
What is the XIIR? XIIR (Xtreme
International Ice Racing) is a Professional Racing tour... ON
ICE! Man and machine going from 0-60mph in under 3 seconds!
Speedway bikes and quads are modified and compete on an indoor
ice arena. There are over 2000 metal studs added to the tires
and there are NO BRAKES! What does that mean...? PURE
ADRENALINE! It is THE fastest sport on ice and one of the
fastest sports in the world. The rush of so much power and
speed on something as unpredictable as ice, has whipped
audiences into a frenzy and gained new fans across the
country. Backed by the AMA in its first year, the XIIR
series tour was successful and popular. With the popularity
following its inaugural year, this year's series is expected
to be bigger and better... drawing bigger crowds, more
sponsors and riders from all over the globe. Who is
the XIIR? Three time World Indoor Ice Speedway
Racing Champion Anthony "British Bulldog" Barlow & his
wife, Marlene, team up to produce the Xtreme International Ice
Racing (XIIR) Pro Tour. What's New? New
this year is the SuperTrapp "Dash for Cash" which offers
amateur, local quad riders who come in 1st place a $500.00
cash bonus for competing with a SuperTrapp exhaust with
SuperTrapp's name prominently displayed. This season
SuperTrapp provides all Speedway racers in the series with a
full exhaust system designed specifically for the speedway
chassis. Because of the substantial power boost provided by
SuperTrapp's tunable disc technology, all racers are required
to equip their bikes with a SuperTrapp exhaust so that all of
the racers can benefit from superior performance. "The
SuperTrapp mufflers are a perfect fit for ice racing because
with so much speed and no brakes, throttle control is key,"
said Anthony Barlow, champion ice racer and organizer of the
XIIR. "The tunability of the SuperTrapp mufflers allow us to
fine tune the power of these machines for different levels at
different speeds so it hits when we need it to hit."
According to Barlow, the SuperTrapp systems allow for
such fine control of power that they are often re-tuned
between each heat and the main to account for an increasing
track size as the number of participating riders increases.
Because all races are held indoors, the ability to control
sound levels is another important factor, said Barlow. The
high-speed events feature 500 cc methanol-burning Speedway
motorcycles and performance ATVs, equipped with studded tires,
speeding around the tight track of a hockey arena. Two open
ATV classes will be featured at every race. For a
schedule of XIIR races, results and more information, visit http://www.xiir.com

| Paul Yaffe and SuperTrapp Support the Chopper Chicks
Crew and Their Pink Ribbon Chopper for the National Breast
Cancer Foundation
The Chopper Chicks Crew, a dedicated, all female team of
bike builders, built a chopper and donated it to The National
Breast Cancer Foundation during Daytona Bike Week. The bike
will be used for fund raising, or any other medium that raises
awareness and funding to help the foundation toward its goals.
"The Pink Ribbon Chopper" is the second bike the crew has
built for Breast Cancer, but the first for the foundation.
Paul Yaffe provided the crew with a Road Legends X
Pipe built by SuperTrapp. “I had to have them to make the look
when I designed that chopper”, explained Athena “The Vagabond
Chickie” Ransom. The X Pipe offers that classic over-and-under
shot gun style with the Yaffe touch. It includes a chrome
plated, 3 piece ventilated spot heatshield and drilled billet
end tips.
Since the pink ribbon is an international
symbol signifying Breast Cancer awareness, the Chopper Chicks
Crew decided to use it as the theme for their build. This
exciting event took place on "Builder's Row" at Daytona
International Speedway, during Daytona Bike Week. The bike was
built using donated parts and labor from a number of major
sponsors.
The Chicks Crew consists of Athena Ransom of
Vagabond Chopper Co., Joann Bortles of Crazy Horse Painting,
Jayme Gray from Pussycat Choppers, Katie Putnam from Mitch
Bergeron's, and Sarah Lyon from Magnum Cycles in Kentucky.
"We decided that it was time for women to make their
mark in the motorcycle industry and what better way than to
build a bike for a cause that touches almost every woman in
some way. We hope to raise awareness of breast cancer as a
disease and empower women to realize their dreams." Said
Athena Ransom of Vagabond Choppers.

| SuperTrapp Leather Jacket Winners
SuperTrapp Industries promoted a Limited Edition
SuperTrapp Leather Jacket giveaway at the Cincinnati V-Twin
Expo and the Indianapolis Dealer Expo, both during the month
of February. The contest was created in an effort to increase
awareness of SuperTrapp as well as increase the readership of
SuperTrapp’s Pipeline newsletter. Hundreds of contest entries
were submitted which proved the promotion to be successful.
The winner of the Cincinnati V-Twin Expo was Tim
Woodsome, service manager of Cruisin’ 66 Cycles in
Springfield, MO. A congratulatory phone call was placed to
Woodsome in which he responded with an enthusiastic “No way! I
never win anything. Sweet!” When asked if he was familiar with
SuperTrapp prior to the event Woodsome claimed “Yes. We’re
very familiar with the name. We were stoked to see the Victory
2:1 header in your catalog. We love the 2:1 and Phantom Pipes
are awesome and we have a lot of customers who will want
those.”
The Indianapolis Dealer Expo presented another
opportunity for individuals to enter the contest. SuperTrapp
randomly drew a name and announced Andy Miller, service
manager of Gutterridge Harley- Davidson in Danville, IL as the
second winner. When Miller was informed he won, he responded
with a shocking “No kidding!” Miller, who was familiar with
SuperTrapp prior to the Dealer Expo, explained, “We use quite
a bit of SuperTrapp products on race and street bikes. Bagger
exhausts seem to be among the most popular.” Miller also said
that customer feedback regarding SuperTrapp products is “Good.
They’re very happy.”
